Atayero, Immediate Past VC Covenant, Appreciates God, Oyedepo, Colleagues, Others for Successful Tenure

The immediate past Vice-Chancellor, Covenant, Professor AAA. Atayero has sent a letter of appreciation to the Chancellor of the University, Dr. David Oyedepo, Members of the Board of Regents, colleagues, students and alumni for their supports during his four-year tenure.

Atayero, in his letter, expressed profound gratitude to God for ‘qualifying the called, even when the called is evidently not qualified.’ He also appreciated the Chancellor of the University, Dr. David Oyedepo for the privilege to serve in the capacity.

The letter read in part, “My sincere appreciation goes to all members of management (present and past) with whom I have been privileged to serve since 2016 and at all levels. Thank you all for your labour of love in the Father’s vineyard.

“My appreciation will be incomplete if I fail to acknowledge every member of Faculty and Staff that are constantly in the field of service, making sure no stone is left unturned in the pursuit of the Vision. I doff my cap to you all. May you be richly rewarded.

“My profound appreciation likewise goes to all the Kings and Queens in Hebron as well as the Alumni for making my tenure a most rewarding one, full of testimonies of your fruitful engagements even as continue to make us proud both at home and abroad. May the good Lord continue to keep and guide you in all you lay your hands to perform.”

Atayero was the 5th substantive Vice-Chancellor of Covenant – The leading Private University in Nigeria. He served as the pioneer Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Coordinator School of Engineering, and twice as HoD of Electrical and Information Engineering of the University.

Covenant University recorded landmark achievements under his leadership since 15th of July 2016 when he assumed office. Notable among these were the following: ranked by the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings (WUR) for 2020 as the Best West African University and the 4th African University. In the recently released THE Subject Rankings, Covenant ranks in the Top 400 globally in Business & Economics; Engineering & Technology; Computer Science as well as Social Sciences, while she ranks Top 500 in Physical Sciences globally, and either as the best or the only Nigerian Institution in all these subject categories.
