Covenant Pawka Beverage Emerges First Position at Technology Expo 2018

Covenant University’s product, Pawka Beverage was adjudged overall best at the recently concluded second edition of the Technology and Innovation Expo 2018, organised by the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology in Abuja.

The product, developed from Pawpaw (Carica Papaya) by a Professor of Medical Microbiology at Covenant University, Professor Louis Egwari, came first among 225 products exhibited in the Higher Institutions Category. Forty-Five (45) higher institutions from across the federation were represented at the event.

Announcing the good news to the faculty and staff at the regular Friday Faculty and Staff Fellowship on March 9, 2018, the highly elated Vice-Chancellor, Professor AAA. Atayero attributed the various successes achieved by the University to the “good hand of God” on the 15-year-old institution.

The Pawka Beverage was one of the three products of Covenant University that obtained Patent Certificate at the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP) in Abuja on June 24, 2010. The Pawka Beverage includes Pawka Tea, Pawka Carbonated Drink and Pawka Wine.

It would be recalled that Covenant University’s product (Road Traffic Shuttle) developed by Mr. Joseph Ocheja, emerged the third position at the maiden edition of the Expo in 2017.
