A Computer Science undergraduate of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) in Ogun State has been found dead in Lagos hours after he tweeted “Nigeria will not end me”.
The young man identified as Oke, was also a graphic designer. He was said to have been shot through the neck while sitting inside his compound on Wednesday.
The corpse was reportedly found around Mafoluku area in Oshodi, Lagos.
It was learnt that Oke wrote his final examination in January and was waiting for the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to call off its ongoing strike to complete his clearance in preparation for mobilization for the mandatory one-year National Youth Corps Service.
His last words on Twitter were “Nigeria will not end me” He got killed shortly after that in Lagos.
Before then, he had tweeted, “There’s a very good chance that Buhari doesn’t even know this is happening at the moment. Where does he get his news from? These media houses that date publishing false information??? #EndSARS.
At the time soldiers were shooting at protesters in Lekki Toll Gate on Tuesday night, he wrote: “Man, I’ve never felt this oppressed in my life. I really thought we had a good shot this one time. #EndSARS.”
The attacks on protesters have left many dead and injured across the country.
The youths have been protesting against police brutality and bad governance for about two weeks now. On Tuesday, the Lagos State government imposed a 24-hour curfew to bring the situation under control. However, on Tuesday night, soldiers opened fire on the demonstrators at the Lekki Toll Gate area of the city.
