NYSC Urges Employers To Utilise Corps Members

The Ogun State Coordinator, National Youth Services Corps, Mrs Belinda Faniyi, has urged employers to effectively utilise corps members in their organisations.

Faniyi, who was represented by an Assistant Director in the scheme, Mrs Joke Oyenuga, stated this on Wednesday at the 2020 Employers Workshop organised by the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Speaking on the theme, ‘The Function of an Efficient Corps Employer in Maximum Utilisation of Corps Members,’ she said,  “The NYSC has ensured equitable distribution of corps members to organisations in its bid to realise its set objectives and we will continue to ensure the effective utilisation of corps members’ skills for national development.’’

Faniyi explained that the workshop was aimed at reminding employers about the welfare of corps members, and the relationship between them and the roles expected of corps members.

“The NYSC members of staff can’t do it alone, we have given them orientation at the camp but employers need to work with us so that these corps members can be great in the future.”

An employer, Jimoh Animashaun, described the workshop as educating.

“I will like every employer and employee to yield to the advice given at the forum, corps members should add value to their place of primary assignment and employers should also treat the corps members like their own children,” she said.
