Report by Adewole Oluwadamilola

Wednesday, May 19, 2021, would remain unforgettable in the history of Abesan Senior High School, located at the popular Jakande Estate, Abesan, Ipaja, Lagos.

The set ’98 Alumni body in their usual annual tradition of giving back to their Alma Mater by championing beneficial projects decided to equip the three main laboratories in the School, the Physics, Biology, and Chemistry, this year.

The idea of equipping the laboratories came up last December when the committee representatives in their usual yearly manner visited the school management to inquire of the pressing needs of the School and students.

The Alumni members thought it wise to impact the younger generations by raising funds from their members both home and abroad to fix these obvious gaps in the learning system.

The project committee was made up of seven members led by Engineer Seun Oluwole.

The Committee immediately set into work by strategizing means to raise sufficient funds required to make this project a reality. Compassionate pleas and calls were made to their members both home and abroad for financial support in achieving this.

To the glory of God, the required sets of laboratory equipment were delivered to the School last week Wednesday.

The Principal, Mrs. Osinoiki, tutors, and students were so happy for this outstanding support by the old students. She expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the massive support received from the Alumni of the School year in year out.

The commissioning occasion was graced by the President-General of the AHSOSA body, Mr. Layo Akintunde, the set’98 President, Bamidele Suleiman- Awoniran, Vice President, Project Chairman, Project Secretary, and prominent members of the Set.

The Project Chairman charged the students to put in their best in their academics so as to be in better positions to give back to the Alma Mater when their time comes.

He appreciated all the members of the Class of 1998 for supporting the course. He also recognised the effort of the Principal for her cooperation throughout the phases of actualising the project.
