ABU Student Produces Ventilators for Covid-19 Patients

Mr. Usman Dalhatu, a 200 level student of mechanical engineering, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria has produced a ventilator in Gombe, Gombe state.

Mr. Dalhatu, an indigene of Gombe state, has gone viral on media for producing a ventilator during the coronavirus pandemic for Covid-19 patients.

Ismaila Uba Misilli, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Gombe State Governor stated on his Facebook page that ABU’s Dalhatu was amongst the three Gombe indigenes that recently had a reception with Governor Inuwa Yahya of Gombe state for producing locally-made ventilators.

ABU’s Dalhatu later upgraded his ventilator to portable vent which he called respire 19 and made it available on his Twitter handle on 14th April 2020.

Dalhatu told PR Nigeria that his ‘Extra Clean Machine’ which he designed and produced has already gotten a patent and trademark certificate, and is currently been sold in Abuja and Gombe State.

He added that with adequate funding and technical supports from expert-technicians, he can mass-produce the ventilator within a short period.

On May, 3 Dalhatu uploaded pictures of his new ventilators on his Twitter handle undergoing clinical test which he made with the financial support he received from Kaduna ICT hub to produce more ventilators.
