The President of the Student Union Government of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko in Ondo State, Comrade Adesomoju Samuel, aka Sampraise has called on the students of the institution to disregard the academic calendar currently being circulated on social media, noting that it has not been authenticated.

In a media chat yesterday, Adesomoju debunked the authenticity of the speculation that exam would commence on May 26th, six days after the resumption from the mid-semester break.

He stated that before such a circular could be authorized, the institution’s Registrar or Deputy Vice-Chancellor must append his signature, a trait absent in the circular on social media.

He further urged the students to be patient as he was yet to confirm the authenticity of the circular.

He also informed the students that negotiation was ongoing as regards the tuition fee.

He further stated that if the proceedings should be unfavourable, the students would take to the streets in protest.

In the same vein, Adesomoju called on the State Government and the Management of the University to, as a matter of urgency, reduced the fee drastically, noting that it was too outrageous and unbearable.

“I am happy to tell you that the Student Union have noted the notable things we ought to have work on concerning the tuition fee, but it is not yet over until it is over, the school fee is now outrageous than what Nigeria students can bear,” he explained.

Comrade Adesomoju added that “It won’t serve us well if the school fee is not reduced systematically and drastically.

“I want to state that the governor is willing to meet the Student Union, we would be meeting the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Matters, Banji Akinwumi, as well as the Chief of Staff to the Governor next week and our demands would be made known”, he maintained.

He also added that Nigerian students would be aware of the meeting two days before it is held.

While replying what the ground of the Union would be, he highlighted that “Everything would be resolved to a reasonable end,  Nigeria student would be informed about the meeting, it would be on the record, our point would be made known to them and also demand the reduction on the school fee”.
