Bells Secondary School Wins Maiden ICONS Football Competition

The Bells Secondary School, Ota, Ogun State has won the maiden edition of the ICONS Football competition, organised by Scheme Royal Limited for secondary schools in Ota.

The Bells defeated Ansar-Ud-Deen Comprehensive College, Ota by one goal to nothing in a highly competitive final match which took place at the sports complex of the Bells University of Technology, Ota recently.

The organizer, Daniel Amoo noted that the vision behind the competition was to bring both private and public schools together and foster unity and peace using football as a means.

“It was also to give these kids a platform to showcase their skills and get scouted by both international and local agencies to further their football career or get sport scholarships to further their education,” he added.

Amoo, who just graduated from Covenant University with First Class in Computer Science, explained further that, “The main interest for this competition was the urge to give back to the community and help develop the career of the young ones, as grassroots development is one of the things we lack in this country.”

The final match was witnessed by the Vice-Chancellor, Bells University of Technology, principals of the two finalists, Ansaar-Ud-Deen Comprehensive College and The Bells Secondary School, the principal of Acada Science College was represented as well as sport masters of schools at the finals along with their students.

The organisers including Adekeye Bunmi and Adegoke Abbey promised that the event would be an annual competition. They promised that the 2022 edition would be bigger and better.

Ten schools participated in the maiden edition supported by Nestle Milo and Converge.
