The maiden Press Week of the Nigerian Union of Campus Journalists (NUCJ) Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungna-Akoko Chapters commenced today at the university campus.
CAMPUSLIFE gathered that the 2-day event which is in conjunction with Legal Kekenke, the media arm of the Faculty of Law was set to bring together various campus writers and bloggers in the institution.
According to the President of the Chapter, Joshua Oluwakuse, the event was to “harmonise writers and feature programmes that would help them become professionals.”
While speaking, the Editor of Legal Kekenke, Adetona Ayowole told CAMPUSLIFE that the programme was to unleash the potentials in every writer in Ajasin Varsity.
“We are organising this so as to know the skills to acquire as young journalists. We also want to orientate journalists in this information age,” he said.
Meanwhile, the event will feature programmes like Public lecture, Seminar/workshop, intermedia debate, football match for all campus Journalists, media outfits, as well as Bloggers in AAUA,
While revealing the theme, “Running a Successful Media Organisation: Skills and Orientation Required from a 21st Century Journalists”, Adetona said that a “21st Century University deserves 21st Century writers”.
Some of the Guest Speakers include Mr. Shola Ilesanmi, Head of Reportorial, Orange FM Akure; Ebenezer Adeniyan, CEO/Editor-in-chief, Trace News Magazine; James Sowole, Chairman, the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Ondo State chapter and many other distinguished personalities in the media world.
The programme is holding at the Nelson Mandella hall of the University as the event is also supported by Echo Media, an intercampus newspaper.
