Covenant Best Entrepreneurship Development University of the Year 2019

Awards keep pouring in for West Africa’s numero uno University, Covenant, the latest being the ‘Best Entrepreneurship Development University of the Year 2019’ presented by organisers of the Nigeria SME National Business Awards 2019.

The award, which confirmed Covenant’s status as the leading Nigerian university in terms of entrepreneurship development, came few days after the University similarly emerged the ‘Most Outstanding Higher Institution of the Year’ at the 6th Annual Nigeria Entrepreneurs Award.

The Best Entrepreneurship Development University of the Year 2019 award was formally presented to Covenant on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, by the National President of Association of Small Business Owners (ASBON), Dr. Femi Egbesola.

On hand to receive the award was Chairman, Centre for Economic Policy and Development Research (CEPDeR) in Covenant, Professor Evans Osabuohien, representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor AAA. Atayero. Professor Osabuohien was joined by the Director, Centre for Entrepreneurial Development Studies, Dr. Felicia Olokoyo; Deputy Director, Commercialisation, Covenant University Centre for Research, Innovation and Discovery, Dr. Stephen Oluwatobi, and Head, Media and Corporate Affairs, Mr. Oladipo Okubanjo.

While congratulating Covenant, for setting the pace in the propagation of entrepreneurship among students, which other Nigerian universities had emulated, the ASBON President, Dr. Femi Egbesola, said that his organization was interested in having collaboration with Covenant in reaching out to millions of youths not captured in the university system.

The Vice-Chancellor’s representative, Professor Osabuohien, appreciated organisers of the Nigeria SME National Business Awards 2019, for finding Covenant a worthy recipient of the Best Entrepreneurship Development University of the Year award. He stated that since Covenant and ASBON were stakeholders in the advancement of entrepreneurship, it would be worthwhile for both to team up and work on feasible projects.
