Covenant Wins Enactus National Championship 2 Years in a Row

As God’s own University, His blessings never cease to pour on Covenant. Representatives of West Africa’s No.1 University on Thursday, August 20, 2020, outshone co-competitors to win this year’s edition of the Enactus Nigeria National Championship.

The Covenant team defended the championship they won in 2019 successfully, by giving a compelling pitch with their PET City project in the 2020 event. PET City is a project focused on transforming single-use plastic (specifically plastic bottles) and nylon wastes into interlocking bricks suitable for road construction.

The competition virtually took place live on the official Enactus Nigeria YouTube page for everyone to join in and stream Webinar Jam and Launchpad. Eighteen (18) teams from across the country competed in this year’s competition that began with the opening round, where Covenant competed in League 3 alongside Ekiti State University, University of Port Harcourt, Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, and Federal Polytechnic Idah, Kogi State.

Eight (8) teams featured in the semi-final, from which emerged four (4) that competed in the final, which produced Covenant as the champions. Faculty Advisor, Mr Michael Fagbohun, led the 100-man strong Covenant team, with Adeoluwa Adegboye as the student Team Lead.

The National Enactus congratulated all teams that competed at this year’s Virtual National Competition for demonstrating the kind of resilience, belief, and creativity that the world needed to survive. The theme for the 2020 competition was ‘We All Win’.
