Miss Olutomi Esuruoso, a fresh graduate of Economics from the Department of Economics and Development Studies, Covenant University, has been awarded a £10,000 scholarship by the University of Leeds Business School, UK, for full-time study in a Master’s Degree programme.
The award covers 75% of her tuition fees for M.Sc. Finance and Investment programme, which commences in September 2018.
The scholarship, according to the University of Leeds Business School, is awarded to candidates who demonstrate an excellent academic track record; show excellent professional and personal skills evidenced through work experience and/or extra-curricular activities, and demonstrate the potential to contribute to the social and cultural diversity of the University’s Masters programmes.
Miss Esuruoso, who emerged with First Class Honours at the recently held 13th Convocation Ceremony of Covenant University, was also offered a 3-month summer internship at Bank of America Merrill Lynch – an American multinational investment bank. The internship started in June and runs until the end of August 2018.
Speaking on her internship at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Miss Esuruoso said that it had been an eye opener into the world of finance and a great learning opportunity where she has been able to apply concepts learnt during her 4-year undergraduate study in Economics.
“Bank of America is also very diverse with employees from various parts of the world, which has allowed me to meet various people and learn about different cultures while gaining knowledge on a global platform,” she added.
