EKOUNIMED Matriculates 50 Medical Students

The Eko University of Medicine And Health Sciences (EKOUNIMED), Ijanikin matriculated 50 medical students for the 2021/2022 academic session.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor of EKOUNIMED, Prof. Adedayo Ejiwunmi, said this at the fourth matriculation ceremony of the institution on Tuesday in Lagos.

Ejiwunmi said that the institution was a community of innovative and creative thinkers who would keep challenging the status quo with medical demands that require thoughtful responses.

“I urge the matriculating students to read anything and everything you find useful mentally, academically no matter how challenging and demanding.

“Read to learn, to grow, to understand and apply, for that to happen, learn to reflect on what you read.

“Do not be ashamed to be a beggar, those who are well do not need a doctor, those who know it all are not yet born,” he said.

Ejiwunmi added that today marks a public celebration and proclamation of the first private university of medicine in Nigeria.

“The first batch of students of this institution has gone ahead to take their first professional examination,” he said.

Dr Hammed Ibraheem, founder of EKOUNIMED said that the vision of the establishment of this first privately owned medical university in Nigeria was to give back and contribute to the development of the society.

 The founder said that the university would greatly in creating access to medical and health-related university education for qualified youths in the country.

Ibraheem said that he would be embarking on the construction of a major medical research hospital complex that would be admired by all.

 “My aim is to bring back Nigerians in diaspora to join the crusades of good medical education and medical delivery systems in due course.

 “We will be featuring medical experts to join the projects especially from the U.S and some European countries in which have several affiliations,”he said.

EKOUNIMED is a premier specialised, privately owned, medical, non-sectarian, and co-educational institution that got approval of the Federal Executive Council of Nigeria on Dec. 6, 2017.
