Students protesting school fees hike

… Arrests over 35 persons

On the day three of the peaceful protest by the Ajasin Varsity Students over the tuition fee hike, Police officers opened fire during the process.

EDUTORIAL learnt that police intercepted the parents and students and attacked them with Bomb spray at the Government Office.

The students were reported to have surrendered and called for a dialogue with the governor, Rotimi Akeredolu but the police ambushed them and arrested over 35 of them.

Report getting to EDUTORIAL reveals that they have been released while those without identification are still in custody.

However, the Police Commissioner, Ondo State Police Command, Olugbenga Adeyanju stated that the protesting students went beyond the line, alleging that they almost invaded the Office of the governor, “and we will not sit back and allow such to happen,” he added.

He explained further that 12 students were arrested while 35 others who he called hoodlums were also in police custody.
