JAMB Partners British Council On A-Level Programme

The British Council has partnered the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board to prevent illegal direct entry registrations.

The board said in its monthly bulletin on Monday that it would hold a meeting to discuss how the Cambridge A/Levels could also be streamlined and its verification process clarified.

The bulletin read: “The British Council would on Monday, April 17, 2023, meet with the Registrar of JAMB, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, to discuss the modalities for the verification of Cambridge A/Level qualifications.

“This is to redefine the Direct Entry registration process with a view to eradicating all abuses and falsification of results as well as unifying all Direct Entry requirements.

“It is in line with these renewed efforts that the British Council will be discussing with the board to see how the Cambridge A/Levels could also be streamlined and its verification process clearly defined and included as one of the requirements for DE registration as the board would not accept any entry qualification that does not have a clear verification process.”

The PUNCH reports that the board on February 22 announced the suspension of Direct Entry registration to enable the deployment of certain measures, which were designed to better serve prospective candidates.
