Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo becomes the first university in Nigeria to offer Doctorate degree Programmes in Business Administration (DBA) and Public Administration (DPA).
The Dean, Postgraduate School, Lagos State University(LASU), Ojo, Prof. Joseph Olagunju, said this at the orientation programme organised by the University for the newly admitted students of the programme.
Over 60 students were admitted for the two programmes.
Olagunju appreciated the new students for making the right decision of joining an academic institution of great repute.
“I congratulate Faculty of Management Sciences for blazing the trail and for emerging as the first faculty to kick – start the programmes, noting that the faculty of education is presented at the concluding stage.
“PhD and DBA said that both are focused on business but they are quite different.
“PhD in Business Administration is a research-oriented doctoral degree ideal for those interested in pursuing a career in academia and contributing to business scholarship.
“While DBA degree focuses on theoretical knowledge that can be applied to the practice of business and business management.
“Adding that a Doctor of Business Administration or DBA degree is a terminal business-focused degree that provides practical knowledge that can be directly applied in the workplace,” he said.
Prof. Babatunde Yusuf, Dean, Faculty of Management Science congratulated the freshmen and urged them to make good use of all the facilities.
Yusuf said that the university would make opportunities and available in the course of their academic activities.

“I welcome you all to the most preferred university in Nigeria, we started small, but, currently attaining greater heights.
“There is need to gain more knowledge and share ideas with the academic world,” Wahab said.
Dr. Lai Adebayo LASU Librarian, Dr. Lai Adebayo encouraged the students to have a romance with the university library in order to accomplish their lofty dream in the university.
