LASU, Indian Institute Seals Collaboration

Lagos State University’s drive for internationalisation received a big boost, on Wednesday, with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Lagos-based institution and the Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science, (HITS), India to commence a series of exchange programmes.

The MoU signing was led by the vice chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, who was represented by the deputy vice chancellor, administration, Prof. Adenike Boyo, and Prof. Selvamuthu Krishnan, director of Sports at the HITS at a brief ceremony held at the Vice Chancellor’s Conference Room, Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, main campus, Ojo in the presence of members of LASU management. 

According to the content of the MoU, areas of collaboration will include any programme offered by LASU and HITS, which is considered desirable and feasible to the development of the two institutions with special focus on collaborative programmes, exchange of faculty members/research scholars, exchange of students, academic information, joint research and cultural programmes, amongst others.

The vice chancellor while welcoming the two-man HITS team, which also had a Nigerian, Dr. Samuel Olalekan Adeyeye, expressed her optimism on the success of the collaboration noting that the partnership will benefit both institutions.

Dr. Adeyeye, who facilitated the collaboration said LASU was selected for her track record of being one of the best institutions in Nigeria and one of those offering Aeronautical Engineering, and hoped that the partnership will birth a greater relationship between the institutions.

The partnership is expected to run for a period of five years renewable by another five.

Recall that LASU currently has partnership with several local and international institutions, including Cornell University, USA.
