Edet Polycarp Daniel, a 200-level student from the Department of Botany, Faculty of Science, Lagos State University, has emerged one of the winners of the Rotary International, District Education Welfare Fund (DEWEF) Scholarship.

The scholarship is designed for the suitably qualified indigent, but, brilliant students in  Federal and State Tertiary Institutions in Lagos and Ogun States of Nigeria who have completed the first year (100 Level) and are now in their second year (200 Level) under the District 9110 DEWEF initiative.

Apart from competing with other competitors drawn from Federal and State owned Institutions by the states during the first round, Edet also had to go through a rigorous interview session as he was grilled by the organisers for the successful shortlisted applicants.

At the end of the keenly contested screening interview, Edet emerged as one of the winners of the scholarship scheme. The scholarship is projected to run all through his Bachelor’s degree programme in the Lagos State University.

Professor ‘Lanre Fagbohun, the Vice Chancellor, on behalf of the University community congratulated Edet for his success and also urged him not to rest on his oars and challenged other students to take a cue from the world class feat by Edet in order to blaze the frontiers of excellence in their respective fields.
