MEMMCOL Boss Task Engineering Students To Provide Innovative Solutions

Mr. Kola Balogun, Chief Executive Officer, Momas Electricity Meters Manufacturing Company, Ltd (MEMMCOL) has urged engineering students to be innovative to provide solutions to the new normal for the future.

Balogun said this at the fourth International Conference of School of Engineering, Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH), Ikorodu on Wednesday in Lagos.

The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that the theme of the conference was: “Innovation In Engineering For Sustainable Development In The New Normal”.

He advised the students to develop their personal self-discovery by creating new ideas or projects which would make them stand out in their institution.

“I urge you all to provide solutions to be a better person, review the way you had been doing things and put everything taught and read into practice.

“The global pandemic has made many technology experts and engineers discover or innovate artificial intelligence, remote reading facilities, robotic technology, and so on.

“Our company is the first Nigeria indigenous company to design and produce prepaid meters by using Nigeria materials.

“I  am also a product of polytechnic before I further my education if I can provide solutions and innovative technology, I believe some of the students can also do the same,” Balogun said.

Balogun added that they would collaborate with polytechnic institutions in order to bring interested students into their research laboratory to learn software applications and other technical methods.

He said that it would help to address and provide major solutions to the technical problems in society.

Mr. Mansur Ahmed, Group Executive Director, Government, and Strategic Relations, Dangote Group said that human development was now driven by technologies around the world.

Ahmed, also the President, Manufacturer Association of Nigeria (M.A.N) said that the new normal in the world also helps to discover new development in the society

“Technology is the child of engineering and has now brought development into the new normal in the world.

“This new normal is changing the way we develop, think, eat, move around and strategies in the society,” he said.

Mrs. Margret Oguntala, Member of 12th Governing Council, LASPOTECH said that

there was no escaping from technology so we need to continue to innovate new technologies which would revolve around the world.

Oguntala said that she believed that students of these institutions could build an innovative technology that could help to improve sustainable development in Nigeria.
