According to the Director, M-Innovation Center, Mr Owen Arasomwan, the Theme for the event is Urban Waste Management: Achieving a Zero Carbon World in Ota City.

Mr Arasomwan noted that Climathon is a global movement that organises locally; a city-based programme that offers a clear pathway to climate action.

“As part of the Climathon, we will be hosting an Ideathon competition among High School Students in Ota. They will be given the opportunity to come up with innovative solutions for combating climate change and achieving a UN Zero Carbon Target using Ota City as a case study.

“Each participating school will present a team of 3-4 students that should come up with an innovative and entrepreneurial solution to mitigate the causes and effects of climate change. Solutions must be original ideas; scalable and adaptable solutions both at the local and global levels. The best team will be given a recognition award/plaque and mentoring opportunities,” he explained.

Arasomwan explained further that, “M-Innovation Center is an innovation and co-creation hub based in Ota, Ogun State. The centre among other things focuses on creating opportunities for young people through innovation and technology.
