Some female Students at the old Post Graduate (PG) Hall of Residence (IC), Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS) have lamented over the inactivity of ceiling fans in their rooms and pleaded for management intervention through the maintenance sector.

In her reaction, while speaking with EDUTORIAL, Aladi Mariam Oluwabukola, a 400-level student of Education English, lamented that spoilage of the ceiling fans in her room has caused a lot of inconveniences, particularly in this dry season.

“The sun in Sokoto state is of high degree which makes me always take a bath and pour water on my bed if I want to sleep so as to minimize the heat,” she said.

She added, “We will be glad and grateful if the management understands our feelings and comes to our aid.”

Abdulraheem Aishat, a 300-level student of Education Biology also expressed displeasure over the holiday embarked on by the fans in her room.

“The management should please help repair the spoiled fans if new ones can’t be brought for now,” she pleaded.

Aishat noted that she is allergic to heat which makes her always sleep outside the room till dawn.

Another PG hostel resident, Abdulrahman Kaosarah, explained that she used to experience unsetting stomachs during heat and the absence of fans for ventilation. She pleaded with the school management to ensure the fans were working back.

In an interview with the Chairman, of the Students’ Union Caretaker Committee, Shamsudeen Umar, a 500-level student of law, said that he believed the management is on top of the situation.

“Also, they are making an effort with a view to rectifying any issue before the official opening of the hostels,” he added.
