ABU Don Joins Daily Trust Newspaper As Columnist

Abdul Hamidu Abdullahi Ph.D. of Ahmadu Bello University local government and development studies department has been selected to serve as a columnist in the giant Nigerian daily newspaper, Media Trust Limited, publishers of Daily Trust Newspaper.

Dr Abdul Hamidu is a serial volunteer and his voluntary works include being the producer/presenter of a talk show, radio program called “Jami’a da Jama’a” – Town and Gown. A program centered on tertiary institutions and their host community’s relationship aired every Saturday from the stable of DITV/ALHERI radio 97.7FM Zaria.

He is also the Chief Executive Officer of Initiative For Orphans and Vulnerable Persons, a registered NGO, and has been involved in many NGO and civil societies organisations. To his credit are many published works in reputable journals.

The appointment was conveyed in an email sent to the selected columnists on July 27, 2021.

The appointment letter reads “We are pleased to inform you that you have been selected to join our membership program as a columnist. We are delighted to have you onboard.”

The appointment letter obtained by this newspaper, further stated he is “expected to write on education and career topics for our membership portal, Youthville+, and Careerville on a part-time basis.”

“Youthville+ and Careerville (the platforms you will be contributing to) serve Daily Trust’s network of professionals (early, mid-career and seniors) and students who mingle and share resources on our community portal. Your articles will serve the needs of a budding community of young and ambitious Nigerian students and professionals.”

The university Don expressed his happiness over his appointment.

“I am grateful to Almighty Allah for making it possible for attaining this feat. I was really delighted and happy that my passion is been recognized and taken to another level. This appointment is a challenge and an opportunity for me to contribute my quota towards the improvement of the educational sector and youths development.” He said.
