The NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mr. Ayodele Adegoke has charged the 2021 Batch A stream II corps members deployed to Osun State and those dislodged from Lagos State to play their role in nation-building effectively.
Adegoke gave the charge at the low-key closing ceremony for the Batch at the Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede on Monday.
He emphasised the core mandates of the scheme which are unity and national integration and urged the corps members to embrace peace and its tenets and shun every form of vices especially the ‘get rich quick syndrome which, according to him, has destroyed the lives of many youths.
He further admonished them to respect the culture of the people of their host community and not look down on them. He informed the corps members of the friendly disposition of the people of the State and urged them to embrace the people’s culture and tradition.
Adegoke also enjoined them to accept their postings in good faith as it has been done in line with the posting policies of the scheme and the felt needs of the State. He warned them against inducing rejection as this will attract a penalty from the management of the scheme in the State.
Accordingly, he charged them to live exemplary lives that young people who look up to them can emulate. He emphasised the need for them to step down the training received during the orientation at their various places of assignment urging them to be dutiful, discipline, and responsible citizens.
He concluded by wishing them well and urging the Lagos corps members to stay in touch with the friends they had made during the orientation course and to also stay true to the national pledge and NYSC oath of allegiance even as they embark on the other phases of the service year.
