Students of two Ondo State institutions, Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko and Ondo State University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa have shut down the state capital to protest in the hike in their tuition fee.
EDUTORIAL gathered that the students assembled in Akure, the state capital as early as 6 am on Tuesday and were joined by their counterparts from other institutions.
The protest was to demand a reduction in their tuition fee.
Recall that the two state-owned institutions were shut down indefinitely following an earlier protest that rocked their campuses over tuition fee saga.
The two institutions went on Mid-Semester break which has now been declared “till further notice”.
However, the protest that went on in Akure has the joint efforts of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Ondo Axis, EDUTORIAL learnt.
As at the time of filing this report, the protest was peaceful as protesters carried placards with captions “ReduceOrResign”, “Reduce our tuition fee” and many others.
Also, no government officials attended to the protesting students as at when filling this report.
