Huge Success as Igbogbo Students’ Union Organises Edu-social Programme

The Igbogbo Students’ Union, recorded huge success as stakeholders, celebrities, graced Edu-social programme at the Adeboruwa’s Palace.

The event which held on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at the King’s palace saw different stakeholders and celebrities gracing the programme.

Among the celebrities was the popular Nigerian actor Tope Shitta-Bay who was one of the speakers. Also, there was Antras, the popular producer of Qdot one of Nigeria finest artistes.

While delivering her welcome address, the President of the Union, Miss Olafare Comfort urged the youths to always participate in every programme that would build them.

She also maintained that anyone who was not participating in the union’s activities as a member would only be depriving him or herself.

“You will only be depriving yourself of your right as a student in Igbogbo if you don’t participate actively as a member of the Igbogbo Students’ Union,” Miss Comfort said.

She also went further to reveal the plans of the Union to conduct free coaching for secondary school students in SS 2 and 3.

The programme which was tagged “Awake from Social Slumber” was put together to expose youths in the community to various things that were needed to forge ahead in life.

One of the speakers Mr. Awosanya Abiodun challenged the youths on the need to be active in every facet of life. He noted that “There is a difference between school and education but the two is to acquire useful knowledge.

He also advised on youths joining politics. “You need to go into politics. Not with the intent of the bad they do up there but to make a change,” Mr. Awosanya stated.

In his submission, Mr. Shitta-Bay advised the Union members to reach out to every community and get them involved. He said “You need to reach out to people. There are new communities springing up. You must spread your tentacles.”

Also, one of the interesting speakers Mr. Franklin broke down the topic for easily understanding as he dished out points to the youths. “To be awake means to be conscious. To be alert and by that, you must know that great days lie ahead of you. The future is today and you need to start working on it,” he said.

There were performances by up-coming artistes in the community, amongst which are Sholly Kay, Slim U, Dragon and host of others. Mc Toniq and Mc Aj Pompey were among the comedians who graced the programme.
