The Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) has pledged support for the development and growth of the Department of Architecture, Ken Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori, Rivers State.
The institute promised to provide necessary assistance to support the development and growth of budding architects in the institution.
The Chairman of the Rivers State Chapter of NIA, Arc. Toku Fiberesima, made the promise when he led a delegation of the executive committee of the Rivers State branch of the institute on a visit to the Architecture Department and the Rector of the polytechnic.
Arc. Fiberesima said: “We urged the department to involve the institute in the panel for the assessment of graduating students of the department to ensure that graduating students meet the standards required of architects.
“The institute will be happy to support you and make sure that the department grows and impacts on budding architects.”
The NIA Chairman, who interacted with students of the Department of Architecture in the institution, also walked them through the processes required of them to be registered architects upon graduation.
While expressing gratitude to the NIA for the visit, the students appealed for the elimination of the disparity between architecture graduates of polytechnics and architecture graduates of universities.
The institute’s executives were welcome by the Head of Architecture Department, Arc. D.S. Tobi, while the visitors also paid a courtesy call on the Rector of the polytechnic, Dr. Ledum Suanu Gwara.
